The woman is recovering from her injuries at a hospital in the US city of Fort Pierce, Florida.
What began as a fishing trip off the US coast of Florida, almost ended in tragedy, after 73-year-old Katherine Perkins was impaled in the lower abdomen by the sharp, pointed beak of a sailfish that jumped out of the water, picks up the FOX chain.
According to the reports, one of the crew members of the boat was trying to upload the copy he had captured for a photograph, when the 100-pound animal jumped into the boat and charged the victim, causing serious injuries to his groin.
A sailfish, weighing approx 100 pds, jumped out of the water and impaled Katherine Perkins 70, from Maryland in the groin area with its sharp bill, according to a report from Martin County Sheriff’s Office. After the accident, which occurred on July 19, the woman was taken to the town of Stuart to receive first aid. She is currently recovering from her injuries at a Fort Pierce city hospital.
