The owner of the residence was in the backyard at the time of the accident, so he was not injured.
American actress Anne Heche is hospitalized in critical condition after the car in which he was traveling this Friday crashed into a house in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles (California, USA), local media report.
According to the Police, the vehicle involved in the accident – a blue Mini Cooper – was speeding down a residential street and possibly hit a curb before hitting the front yard and building, causing a fire.
Brian Humphrey, a member of the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), indicated that the car stopped inside a two-story house of about 68 square meters that was built in 1952.
“59 firefighters took 65 minutes to access, confine and completely extinguish the s persistent flames inside the severely damaged structure and rescue an adult female found inside the vehicle, who was taken in critical condition to an area hospital by LAFD paramedics,” Humphrey stated.
There were no more injuries
It is unclear whether Heche, who reportedly suffered severe burns, was driving under the influence of alcohol. For his part, the homeowner was in the backyard at the time of the accident, so he was not injured.
“The house was full of smoke. I think they used the tow truck to move the car and get the driver out,” recounted a neighbor when talking about what happened. “It was crazy,” he added without elaborating.
Heche, 53, rose to fame in the late 1980s for her participation in the series ‘Another World. She established herself in Hollywood thanks to her roles in films such as ‘Donnie Brasco’ (1997), ‘Volcano’ (1997), and ‘Return to Paradise’.
